Must read

A queen centenary tribute has taken centre stage as King Charles III honoured his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, on what would have been her 100th birthday. Moreover, the King delivered a personal message reflecting on her life of service and dedication. In addition, he shared his thoughts during a recorded address from Balmoral.

The King described the late Queen as his “darling Mama” in the emotional message. Furthermore, he praised her unwavering commitment to public duty. As a result, the tribute highlighted the values that defined her long reign.

He also suggested that current global challenges would have concerned the late monarch. However, he did not specify particular issues. Instead, he focused on her belief in stability, service, and resilience during uncertain times.

Meanwhile, plans to honour her legacy continue in London. For example, officials will present a design for a new statue in St James’s Park. Moreover, the sculpture will depict the Queen in ceremonial robes linked to the Order of the Garter. In addition, artist Martin Jennings created the design.

The statue will stand several metres tall on a raised plinth. Furthermore, planners drew inspiration from a well-known 1955 portrait by Pietro Annigoni. As a result, the design reflects her early years as monarch and her public role.

The wider memorial project will include more features. For instance, it will add a statue of Prince Philip alongside other elements. In addition, architects led by Norman Foster have designed the site. Consequently, the project aims to blend tradition with modern design.

Developers also plan to build a bridge with glass features inspired by a royal tiara. Meanwhile, the full memorial could take up to two years to complete. Therefore, organisers view the project as a long-term tribute to her reign.

A digital archive will also form part of the queen centenary tribute. Moreover, the initiative will invite the public to share personal memories. In addition, it will create a historical record of royal events and engagements.

The King used his message to reflect on his mother’s enduring influence. Furthermore, he said she remained constant through decades of change. As a result, her legacy continues to shape the modern monarchy.

The queen centenary tribute celebrates a century since her birth. Ultimately, it highlights a reign defined by duty, continuity, and public service.
