Princess of Wales Plans Italy Visit in Major Royal Return Following Health Recovery

Must read

Royal return signals a major step as Catherine, Princess of Wales prepares for her first overseas visit in several years. According to Evening Standard, she will travel to Italy next week on a solo working trip.

Kate plans to visit the city of Reggio Emilia from May 13 to May 14. During the visit, she will focus on early childhood development. The trip also supports the work of her Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood. As a result, the visit represents an important stage in expanding the project internationally.

Aides say she feels excited about returning to international travel. They describe the visit as a significant moment for her public role. Furthermore, the royal return highlights her gradual comeback following health challenges.

Kate last completed a full overseas royal visit in December 2022. At that time, she travelled to Boston with Prince William for the Earthshot Prize ceremony. Although she later attended events in Marseille and Amman, officials did not classify those trips as official tours.

During her stay in Italy, Kate will explore the Reggio Emilia Approach. This educational philosophy encourages children to develop through creativity and relationships. Therefore, the visit aligns closely with her long-term work on early years development.

She will also promote the importance of supportive environments for children. In addition, she aims to highlight how early experiences shape future wellbeing. Her centre, which she launched in 2021, continues to research these issues and raise awareness.

The royal return follows a challenging period for the princess. She received a cancer diagnosis in early 2024 and underwent treatment. However, she confirmed her remission in early 2025. Since then, she has steadily resumed public duties.

Recently, she joined events marking the 100th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II. She also attended national ceremonies and supported key royal engagements. These appearances signalled her growing return to public life.

Prince William previously expressed hope that she would travel more this year. He suggested future overseas visits could follow as her recovery continued. Ultimately, this royal return represents both a personal and professional milestone.
