Carrie Johnson has spoken in detail about a traumatic encounter with convicted sex offender John Worboys. She described feeling extremely unwell and emotionally overwhelmed after the incident, which took place when she was a teenager.
The incident occurred in London in 2007 when she was 19 years old. Johnson said she met Worboys after a night out in Chelsea while waiting for transport home. He approached her and offered a lift, presenting himself as someone acting out of concern for her safety.
Worboys told her he had won money at a casino and invited her to celebrate with him. Johnson said she accepted a drink during the journey, which she later believed had been tampered with. She soon felt unwell after consuming the vodka, experiencing confusion and physical weakness.
She returned home in a distressed condition and immediately saw her mother. Her mother noticed her state and helped her inside the house. Johnson said she felt extremely sick and emotionally overwhelmed at that moment. She later told her mother she felt like she wanted to die because of how she felt.
Johnson said she considers herself fortunate compared with other victims. She explained that she lost consciousness at home rather than during the journey. She also recalled that Worboys gave her contact details when she left the taxi. That detail later helped investigators build part of the case against him.
Authorities later convicted Worboys for multiple sexual assaults linked to his work as a black cab driver. Investigators later reviewed additional complaints after more survivors came forward. Johnson said she has since heard from other women who believe they may have had similar experiences. She suggested that many more victims may still not be identified.
She used the term “black cab attack” when describing the wider pattern of allegations. Johnson repeated the phrase while discussing survivor accounts and public concern. She said awareness of the issue continues to grow as more people speak out.
Johnson urged potential victims to seek help and report their experiences if they feel able. She said public understanding of these cases continues to increase. She also called for stronger attention on safeguarding measures to protect vulnerable people.
