Ozzy Osbourne Announces Final Performance Amid Parkinson’s Battle

Must read

Rock legend Ozzy Osbourne is set to take the stage for his final performance this summer as he faces the challenges of Parkinson’s disease. The iconic musician will reunite with his band Black Sabbath for a historic homecoming show at Villa Park in Birmingham on July 5.

The event, titled Back to the Beginning, promises to be a monumental celebration of heavy metal. Ozzy will perform a short solo set before reuniting with Black Sabbath’s original lineup: Geezer Butler, Tony Iommi, and Bill Ward. This marks the first time the band’s original members have played together in two decades.

In addition to Black Sabbath, the lineup features heavy metal giants Metallica and Slayer, alongside bands like Pantera, Gojira, Alice In Chains, Halestorm, Lamb Of God, Anthrax, and Mastodon. Described as “the greatest heavy metal show ever,” the concert will also support charitable causes, with proceeds benefiting Cure Parkinson’s, Birmingham Children’s Hospital, and Acorn Children’s Hospice.

Ozzy, who publicly revealed his Parkinson’s diagnosis in 2020, has vowed this performance will be his last. Reflecting on the event, he said, “It’s my time to go Back to the Beginning… time for me to give back to the place where I was born. How blessed am I to do it with the help of people whom I love. Birmingham is the true home of metal. Birmingham Forever.”

Music director and guitarist Tom Morello described the upcoming event as a fitting tribute to the genre’s legacy, calling it “the greatest heavy metal show ever.”

The concert will not only honor Ozzy’s extraordinary career but also pay tribute to Birmingham, the birthplace of heavy metal and the city where it all began for Black Sabbath.
