Actor and television presenter Adam Thomas has opened up about his ongoing battle with psoriatic arthritis, revealing that recent flare-ups have left him feeling “frustrated” despite earlier improvements.
The 36-year-old star, known for his roles in Emmerdale and Waterloo Road, has been candid with fans about his health journey since being diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis—a chronic condition that causes joint pain, swelling, and stiffness. Initially thought to have rheumatoid arthritis, Thomas later clarified the correct diagnosis and has regularly used social media to raise awareness and share updates on his condition.
In a recent post, Thomas admitted that while he experienced significant progress at the start of his new health regime—including following a carnivore diet and shedding over a stone in weight—he is now dealing with joint pain again. “There are days and weeks when I can train and run, and it feels amazing,” he wrote. “At first, I saw huge improvements—it was the best I had ever been, and I wasn’t even on medication. But the pain is starting to return.”
Despite the setback, Thomas remains hopeful and said he is considering starting biologic treatments, a form of medication designed to target specific parts of the immune system, often used in managing autoimmune conditions like psoriatic arthritis.
The actor and host of 99 to Beat, a game show he presents alongside his brother Ryan Thomas, has continued to maintain a positive outlook, encouraging others with similar conditions to stay strong and informed about their treatment options.
