Katie Price has opened up about one of the darkest periods of her life in a new documentary, revealing how her past struggles with addiction affected her family. The emotional programme features candid interviews with her children, Junior Andre and Princess Andre, who share their memories of growing up during that difficult time. Katie Price also admits she was not the mother she believed she was while battling addiction and severe mental health issues.
The Sky documentary follows Katie Price as she reflects on her personal life, career and recovery. However, the final episode shifts its focus to her addiction and the lasting impact it had on those closest to her.
Junior Andre recalls that he and his siblings often had to rely on one another when their mother was absent. He says they sometimes prepared their own meals because Katie Price frequently spent long periods away from home. He also remembers waking up one night and immediately realising something was wrong.
According to Junior Andre, he could tell from his mother’s eyes that she was under the influence of drugs. He says the experience frightened him because he had never seen her in that condition before. Although she was physically present, he felt she was emotionally distant. He adds that he deeply missed the loving mother he had known as a child.
Eventually, Junior Andre moved in with his father, Peter Andre. He says the move gave him the stability he needed during a difficult period in his life.
Princess Andre also shares emotional memories in the documentary. She reveals that Katie Price sometimes sprayed perfume onto a blanket before leaving home. Princess Andre says she would hold the blanket after school because it reminded her of her mother. She recalls feeling lonely and often crying while waiting for her to return.
Following the documentary’s release, Katie Price appeared on ITV’s This Morning to discuss her children’s interviews. She revealed that both Junior Andre and Princess Andre told her they became emotional while filming their contributions.
Katie Price admits she never fully understood how deeply her addiction affected her children. She explains that she was experiencing a severe mental health crisis and had reached a point where she no longer wanted to live. She also reveals that she attempted to take her own life during that period.
Looking back, Katie Price says she believed she was still being a mother to her children. However, she now recognises that she was emotionally absent and unable to give them the support they needed. She says her children simply wanted their mother, something she now understands far more clearly.
The documentary offers an honest account of addiction, mental health and recovery while highlighting the emotional impact those struggles had on her family. At the same time, it also reflects the family’s efforts to heal, rebuild their relationships and move forward together.
