Labour MP Dan Norris Arrested on Child Sex and Rape Allegations

Must read

Labour MP Dan Norris has been arrested on suspicion of rape, child sex offences, child abduction, and misconduct in public office. The Labour Party said it “immediately suspended” the North East Somerset and Hanham MP after learning of his arrest.

Avon and Somerset Police confirmed a man in his 60s was arrested on Friday and released on conditional bail. The investigation relates to non-recent offences against a girl, mainly from the 2000s, as well as an alleged rape in the 2020s. Police say the inquiry is in its early stages and the victim is receiving specialist support.

Norris, 65, previously served as an MP from 1997 to 2010 and returned to Parliament in 2024 after defeating Jacob Rees-Mogg. He has also been the Mayor of the West of England since 2021.

A Labour spokesperson confirmed Norris has also had the party whip suspended and will not sit as a Labour MP while the investigation continues.
