Meghan Markle has shared a charming insight into her children’s upbringing, revealing that despite being raised in the United States, Archie and Lilibet still refer to her as “mummy” — a distinctly British touch.
The Duchess of Sussex, who moved with Prince Harry from the UK to Montecito, California, spoke on Jamie Kern Lima’s podcast. During the interview, Meghan was handed a handwritten note from Prince Harry and their two children. The note read:
“From Archie and Lili via Papa.
We love your cooking, we love your pancakes, and we love, love, love your hugs. You’re the best mummy and we love you.”
Meghan called the message “so sweet” and praised her children as “the greatest.” She smiled at their choice of words, noting it was “very British” that they wrote “mummy” instead of the American “mommy.”
Archie and Lilibet, now two and one respectively, have spent nearly their entire lives in California and speak with American accents. However, this endearing detail underscores the family’s continued connection to their British roots.
