Prince William celebrated Aston Villa’s historic Europa League success after the club secured a memorable victory in Istanbul. The Villa triumph marked the club’s first major trophy in 30 years and sparked emotional scenes after the final whistle.

The Prince of Wales attended the Europa League final on Wednesday evening as Aston Villa defeated Freiburg 3-0 in Turkey. William, a lifelong supporter of the Midlands club, reacted passionately throughout the match and celebrated wildly after the result became official.

Photographs captured the future King smiling beside manager Unai Emery while holding the Europa League trophy after the game. Earlier images also showed him cheering with friends in the stands as Villa moved closer to victory.

The result delivered Aston Villa’s first European trophy since 1982. It also ended a three-decade wait for major silverware after the club last won the League Cup in 1996.

Following the match, Kensington Palace shared a congratulatory message from Prince William to the squad and staff. He praised the players, coaches and supporters for achieving a special moment in the club’s history.

William also highlighted midfielder Boubacar Kamara in his message. The player missed recent matches through injury but still played an important role during the campaign.

Before kick-off, William reportedly visited the dressing room to encourage the players ahead of the final. Villa captain John McGinn later described the prince as supportive and down-to-earth during post-match interviews.

McGinn also joked that William should celebrate alongside the squad after the memorable Villa triumph. He praised the royal for maintaining a strong connection with the club over many years. Aston Villa controlled large parts of the final and produced an impressive attacking display. Youri Tielemans and Emiliano Buendia both scored before halftime to put the English side firmly ahead.

Later, Morgan Rogers added a third goal during the second half to secure the result. The final whistle then triggered huge celebrations among players, supporters and club officials. Fans inside the stadium sang loudly as players lifted the Europa League trophy in front of thousands of travelling supporters. Many supporters described the occasion as one of the greatest nights in the club’s modern history.

Striker Ollie Watkins praised the team spirit and determination that helped deliver the Villa triumph. He said unity inside the squad played a key role throughout the European campaign. A trophy parade will now take place in Birmingham as supporters continue celebrating the historic achievement.
