Netanyahu Accuses Starmer of Siding with Hamas After Gaza Criticism

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has launched a fierce attack on UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer. He also targeted French President Emmanuel Macron and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney. Netanyahu accuses Starmer of siding with Hamas and betraying Israel.

The statement followed a deadly attack in Washington where two Israeli embassy staff were shot. All three Western leaders condemned the attack but had also criticized Israel’s latest Gaza offensive. They described Israel’s actions as “disproportionate” and called the humanitarian crisis “intolerable.”

Netanyahu responded by claiming their criticism gave legitimacy to Hamas. “When terrorists thank you, you’re on the wrong side of justice and humanity,” he said in a video. He insisted these leaders were supporting mass murderers, kidnappers, and rapists.

Netanyahu accuses Starmer of siding with Hamas, marking one of the most serious diplomatic confrontations between Israel and its closest allies in years.

The suspect in the Washington shooting shouted “Free Palestine” while being arrested. Authorities say he had links to pro-Palestinian movements and praised past acts of protest. Investigators are analyzing online posts that accused Israel of genocide and praised attacks on embassies.

Keir Starmer condemned the embassy attack and reaffirmed his opposition to antisemitism. However, his earlier remarks criticizing Israel’s aid restrictions to Gaza prompted Netanyahu’s outburst. The UK also paused trade talks with Israel due to the growing conflict.

Israel says its war is in self-defence, citing the October 2023 Hamas-led attack that killed 1,200 people. Yet international pressure continues to mount. Humanitarian groups warn that Gaza’s aid supply is critically low. Only 90 trucks entered Gaza on Thursday—far below the needed amount.

The UN recently warned that thousands of babies in Gaza face death from starvation. Netanyahu blamed the UN and media for spreading what he called “lies” that incite violence.

On Friday, UK Armed Forces Minister Luke Pollard defended Starmer. He said the UK supports Israel’s right to self-defence—only if conducted under international humanitarian law. France also reiterated that Israel must allow full aid access to Gaza.

Netanyahu accuses Starmer of siding with Hamas, highlighting a shift in Western unity over the Gaza conflict. Diplomatic tensions now threaten years of strong UK-Israel relations.

Former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert criticized Netanyahu directly. He described the current administration as a “gang of thugs” and said its Gaza strategy may amount to war crimes.

More than 53,700 Palestinians, including over 16,500 children, have died in the conflict, according to the Hamas-run Gaza health ministry.

As international criticism grows, Netanyahu accuses Starmer of siding with Hamas, intensifying political and humanitarian divisions across the globe.
